  [Family history]
first generation: exotic battles solidify the foundation
ancestors Trump is German farmers, since grandfather’s generation was moved to the United States. Trump’s grandfather was named Frederick Trump (hereinafter referred to as Friedrich), who was born in 1869 in a small village called Karlstadt in the Kingdom of Bavaria. Bavaria was later merged by Germany, so Friedrich belonged to German nationality.
In 1885, in order to escape the three-year compulsory military service in Germany and to get rid of the plight of family poverty, the 16-year-old Frederick went to the United States alone and ran into a barber in Manhattan. Frederick, who was worried about his livelihood, worked as a barber shop. The apprenticeship lasted 6 years and saved a lot of money.
In 1896, prospectors discovered gold mines near the Klondike River in Yukon, Canada. The following year, the news spread throughout the United States, so people went to look for gold mines. Unwilling to be with scissors and faders all day, Friedrich decided to embark on a gold rush.
Frederick followed the gold prospectors to Spain on the other side of the Pacific Ocean, where gold prospectors from all over the world were everywhere. In a mixed environment, Frederick borrowed some money with his natural business acumen, and took a name. The restaurant named as “Poodle” changed its name to “Milk Restaurant” and started to operate bars, casinos and brothels. The “Milk Restaurant” is located in the center of Seattle’s red light district. Frederick’s business is a combination of “wine, money and sex”. The business is very hot, and the loan was repaid in less than a month. Friederick subsequently opened a number of hotels, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Relying on groups of gold prospectors, he eventually made a lot of money, which became the cornerstone of the Trump family’s wealth.
In 1898, Friedrich and his partners bought a 56-ton sailing ship “Elsie” and went to Kotzebue to buy gold from the locals. Unfortunately, the ship hit a rock in the sea. Frederick, who felt hopeless to be rescued, wrote his last words on board. However, a dead end came to life, a sailing boat happened to pass by and rescued Frederick.
Frederick, who survived a catastrophe, decided to return to his hometown. In 1901, he returned to poor Karlstadt and married Elizabeth, the daughter of a tinker across the street from his home. After marriage, he took his wife to New York to create a new life. Unexpectedly, Elizabeth was very uncomfortable with life in New York and missed her hometown seriously. The young couple had to take their newly born daughter back to Karlstadt.
However, that desertion caused Friedrich to completely lose his German nationality, and the German government issued an expulsion order against him. Since then, Friedrich wrote to the German authorities many times, begging not to deport him, but they were all refused.
Friedrich interceded in many ways, but couldn’t help but dragged his family back to the United States in angrily. When she embarked on the ship to New York, Elizabeth had been pregnant with a second child for more than 5 months. At this time, the child in her belly was Trump’s father, Fred Trump.
From then on, Frederick ran a barber shop and a hotel in the Bronx.
In 1918, a worldwide infectious disease, the Spanish flu, broke out, with more than one million deaths worldwide. Unfortunately, Frederick contracted the Spanish flu, became ill the first day, and died the next day. Among Trump’s relatives, in addition to his grandfather Frederick who died of the Spanish flu, his great-grandfather died of emphysema, his grandmother died of pneumonia, and his father also died of pneumonia. So when Trump later said, “No one understands the new crown virus better than me,” maybe he really thought so.
The second generation: Forge ahead and accumulate wealth In
1905, Trump’s father Fred Trump (hereinafter referred to as Fred) was born in the Bronx, New York.
When his father Frederick died, Fred was only 12 years old. As the eldest boy in the family, Fred naturally took on the burden of the family. He started doing odd jobs, going to fruit shops to transport fruits, and also shining shoes for porters on construction sites. He was very capable, and soon became independent. At the age of 16, Fred was able to build a garage for his neighbors alone; at the age of 17, he spent $5,000 to build a house and sold it for $7,500. After he tasted the sweetness, he began to do real estate business.
Fred founded a real estate company. Since he was not an adult at this time and could not register a company, he used his mother’s name and named him “Elizabeth Trump Parent and Subsidiary”. Fred specializes in building apartments for the poor. He lives in Brooklyn and Queens, New York, where the middle and lower classes gather. This type of house is very popular, so he quickly became a New York City real estate tycoon. At the same time, he fully funded his younger brother John’s studies, and John became a famous physics expert in the United States after graduating from his Ph.D.
From 1929 to 1933 was the Great Depression in the United States. The real estate market collapsed and Fred’s company was on the verge of bankruptcy. But the quick-thinking Fred saw what people needed most during the Great Depression, and that was people’s livelihood. He immediately changed his business direction and opened a lot of supermarkets to cater to the needs of the people and survived the Great Depression safely. Although the supermarket industry does not have the short-term profiteering of real estate, it has also allowed the company to develop and grow significantly within a few years.
The worst of the Great Depression had just passed, and Fred responded quickly and returned to the real estate industry. But instead of building villas and western-style buildings as before, he built a large number of civilian apartments to ensure people’s livelihood. Fortunately, the balance fell to Fred once again. The newly elected President Roosevelt implemented the New Deal and the state intervened in economic regulation. One of the important policies was to improve the housing conditions of the people during the Great Depression. The government implements state-funded or private-funded government subsidies, and Fred’s company, which is the first to start, has received huge state subsidies. He first bought a real estate service company, sold it at a high price the following year, and then opened a large supermarket-one of the earliest modern supermarkets in the world. A year later, he sold the supermarket again and made a fortune. After the house was built, Fred sold 78 houses in three weeks through publicity and planning. Later, more than ten years later, he sold 2500 houses one after another, becoming a famous billionaire in New York.
In 1936, Fred met a girl named Mary at a dance party. She was a maid from a poor farm family, but her youthful and beautiful breath suddenly conquered Fred. In the same year, 24-year-old Mary and 31-year-old Fred married, and they had five children after marriage.
