Swollen axillary lymph nodes, is breast cancer “look for your door”?

Know the lymph nodes

Lymph nodes are oval or broad bean-shaped lymphoid tissue bodies of different sizes, interspersed in the “stroke” of the lymphatic vessels, and connected with the lymphatic vessels. One side of the lymph node is convex, and the lymph vessels connected to this side are called input lymph vessels; the other side is sunken to form a lymph node gate, and the lymph vessels connected to this side (gate) are called output lymph vessels. Each lymph node has fewer output tubes than input tubes, and the output tube of one lymph node can be the input tube of another lymph node.
Lymph nodes are distributed in the neck, armpits, groin, and subcutaneous tissues of the human body. They have important functions such as filtering lymph, removing bacteria and foreign bodies, and producing lymphocytes and antibodies. When a local disease occurs in the body, bacteria, foreign bodies, tumor cells, etc. can follow the lymphatic vessels to reach nearby lymph nodes. At this time, the “incarnation” of the lymph nodes becomes a “healthy goalkeeper”, “actively” blocking and removing “foreign enemies”, and is the body’s defensive barrier to prevent the spread and spread of diseases. When the “enemies” are “menacing” and the number is too large to be cleared, the lymph nodes will be swollen; if there are too many “enemies” that exceed the removal capacity of the lymph nodes, they will follow the “outgoing lymphatic vessels” Spread and spread far away.
Find out the cause of swelling as soon as possible

According to the causes of lymph node enlargement, it can be divided into infectious lymph node enlargement, neoplastic lymph node enlargement, allergic lymph node enlargement, and lymph node enlargement caused by other reasons. Compared with chronic lymphadenopathy, patients with acute lymphadenopathy often have more typical concomitant symptoms (such as redness, swelling, heat, pain, etc.).
After the axillary lymph nodes are found to be enlarged, ultrasound can initially determine the nature of the lymph nodes. Fine needle aspiration, especially fine needle aspiration under ultrasound guidance and positioning, can accurately obtain lymph node tissue and perform pathological examination. This is the most accurate method to determine the cause of lymph node enlargement.
Is axillary lymph node enlargement related to breast cancer?

There are many causes of axillary lymph node enlargement, and not all of them are related to breast cancer. If the patient has a breast mass, mammography and ultrasound examination highly suggest that the mass is malignant, and at the same time, there are enlarged lymph nodes in the ipsilateral armpit. At this time, it is indeed necessary to pay enough attention to seek medical attention as soon as possible and confirm the diagnosis through pathological examination. In addition, in the formulation of treatment plans for breast malignant tumors and prognostic judgments, whether lymph node metastasis has occurred and the number of metastases are important references.
In addition, in breast malignant tumors, there is a tumor that does not have any “trace” during breast examination, and axillary lymph node metastasis is the first symptom. If the result of lymph node puncture is clearly breast cancer metastasis to axillary lymph nodes, this is called occult. Breast cancer. However, occult breast cancer is very rare. Female friends don’t need to panic as soon as they notice swollen lymph nodes. What they need to do is to see a doctor in time and follow the doctor’s advice to receive related examinations.
