From Overthinking to Overachieving: 3 Steps to Crush Work Anxiety and Get Things Done

I often see some worrying phenomena at work. When I hand in a plan for working overtime all night, I always worry about whether it will be dismissed! Sitting on a chair is like an ant on a hot pot, unable to calm down and do anything.

This is a typical lack of self-confidence and worry about one’s own abilities. In fact, there are only two outcomes in the end, success or failure. Rather than worrying unfoundedly here, it is better to prepare a second plan to deal with the worst outcome.

People always worry about the future. According to a psychological study, 90% of the things you worry about will never happen. And the 10% and 70% that happen are not as serious as you think. In fact, life is kind, but people’s thoughts are complicated.

Anxiety is the inability to endure the present and the inability to change. You can be as lazy as a pig, but you can’t be as lazy as a pig and feel at ease.

Dong Yuhui said that the essence of pain comes from your dissatisfaction with the status quo. The essence of anxiety comes from the fact that you are growing too slowly. Life is inherently unpredictable, and we always want to control things we have no control over. You can’t be late for work because you’re stuck in a traffic jam.

When we were children, we learned the story of mending the situation after it is too late. A farmer’s sheep was eaten by a wolf, and his neighbor told him to mend the sheepfold to avoid losing the sheep. But the farmer refused to listen, and as a result, another sheep was missing the next morning. Later, the farmer accepted the lesson and advice, repaired the sheepfold, and no more sheep were lost since then.

When you encounter a problem, it is the last word to know how to solve it. Knowing your mistakes can change many things, and things can be changed for the better. Anxiety often arises from the unwillingness to face the reality, and he is still not happy about it.

Only by having the courage to face the facts can we make progress. Instead of thinking about those things that are there and not there all day long, feeling unhappy.

1. Think too much, do too little

A person can face today calmly, not care about the past, and have confidence in the future. Many things will have results only after they are done. Before things start, you are still thinking about what to do if you don’t do well? This is purely a kind of ideological baggage. What a stupid thing to shoot oneself in the toe.

Some people like to boast a lot, only to find out when they are doing it that they cannot complete it at all. At this time, you will feel that you can’t save face, and you will be in a dilemma, making you unable to step down.

It is often said that the size of the head is the size of the hat. If you don’t have diamonds, don’t do porcelain work, don’t take on so many jobs if you don’t have the ability, and you can’t complete them. Isn’t this just waiting for others to see your joke?

Take action first and do things first before talking about them, so you won’t have so many worries. Once you have the results, if it is good, then it will be more effective to publicize it.

Many problems are actually thought out, because people’s thinking is always one step faster than their actions.

2. A giant in thought and a dwarf in action

There are always some people at work who have poor execution ability and can take quick action, but they just don’t take action. There is so much thinking in one’s mind, but no actual operation, and no results can be produced, which inadvertently creates a lot of anxiety and trouble for oneself.

A person has too little, but wants too much. You must know that pie will not fall in the sky, so don’t deceive yourself and others. Everything you think must be put into action to make it possible.

Anxiety actually means not having confidence in yourself, having no confidence in anything you do, and always worrying about gains and losses. If you wait and wait, you won’t get what you want.

In fact, life is nothing more than taking and giving up, and the entanglement between gain and loss. Many times, we ordinary people have exhausted all our strength for three meals a day, unable to change the reality, and yet we are willing to do so.

If you want to achieve something, there are too many things to do and even more things to learn. If you don’t practice and take actual actions, you will think about it in vain that day. Apart from worrying, you probably won’t get anything out of it.

So stop acting in your own mind, focus on what you can see in front of you, return to reality, and your anxiety will gradually move away from you.

3. Live in the present

We brush our teeth, wash our faces, eat, and sleep every day. This is the present. Worrying about the future now is because of your inner self, which will only make people anxious all day long.

Just do what you want to do, think too much and do too little. Only practical actions can eliminate anxiety. It is better to act once than to think ten thousand times.

A person is afraid of not doing well and afraid of failure, so he has been reluctant to take action. You are only a mortal, and life does not happen the way you want it to.

Setting goals too far ahead and far from reality will undoubtedly undermine a person’s self-confidence. Learn to recognize the current situation so that you won’t feel confused about the future!

It only hurts when the needle tip pricks something, and it’s only when the thread is found that it can be sorted out. Only by clearly understanding the current problems can you break through the status quo and let yourself take action. It’s not that there is no water in the well, but that you haven’t dug deep enough.

Live well today and tomorrow will be a good start. As the saying goes, there must be a road before the car reaches the mountain, and there is a village with dark willows and bright flowers.
