How to Answer Weird Interview Questions and Pass the Interview

1

When we were interviewing, we sometimes encountered some weird interviewers and were asked all kinds of strange questions.

A recent example of a classic interview has spread all over the Internet.

In the third round of interviews for a sales position in a unit, the female interviewer asked the interviewer a question:

“I have a terrible stomachache and I have limited mobility, can you get me a cup of hot water?”

After thinking about it, the three interviewers present gave different answers.

The first, a man who had been working for three years, replied:

“I understand the feeling of dysmenorrhea, and my girlfriend often suffers from it. I think what you need now is not hot water, but warmth. I’d better give you some warm baby sticks.”

The second is a boy in love, he replied:

“I have a partner. Sending hot water to other people of the opposite sex may cause misunderstandings, and it is not very convenient. Why don’t I find a female colleague to help you, this will minimize the impact on both of us.”

The third is a young man who has just entered the workplace. The young man thought for a while and replied:

“I think it still depends on the specific situation. If your abdominal pain is mild, I will make you a cup of brown sugar ginger tea; if the abdominal pain is severe and will affect your work, I will suggest you not to endure it anymore, ask for leave for you and send you to the hospital to see a doctor. Different situations should have different coping methods.”

As a result, the third interviewer successfully passed the interview.

The interviewer believes that he is not only considerate, but also can give different plans according to different situations, and he is a delicate and considerate person.

The sales post needs this kind of talent, who can understand the psychology of customers, cater to the needs of different customers, and give targeted solutions.

Therefore, he is more suitable for this position than the other two.

Some people wonder why the interviewer always asks questions that are not related to the job?

for example:

Amazon interview questions: If you were from Mars, how would you solve problems?

UBS interview question: Why are manhole covers round?

Forbes interview question: If you could choose to have a superpower, would you want to be invisible or fly?

The wildly rumored Huawei interview question: “How to make an 800-kilogram cow cross a 700-kilogram bridge?”

Every question made everyone rack their brains, and they were even more puzzled about their intentions.

In fact, most of the time, the small daily problems raised by HR are not purely “make up”.

Instead, examine the interviewer’s on-the-spot performance and judge the interviewer’s EQ and way of doing things.

Therefore, any question asked by the interviewer should not be treated as a small test.

Instead, clarify the needs behind the question.

Take the problem of “connecting hot water” as an example, there are two key points:

First, if a woman has a stomach ache, can the interviewer think that it is her period?

The second is, can hot water solve the problem? Besides hot water, what else does she need? What else can I do?

For this question, examine whether the interviewer has enough common sense in a short time, whether he can deal with it carefully, and whether he can comprehensively analyze small problems.

The answer of the third interviewer just hit the above points, reflecting that EQ and IQ are online at the same time.

When dealing with customers in the future, delicacy and caring will be a big bonus, and a comprehensive look at the problem will better get to the customer’s pain points and achieve precise marketing.

On the other hand, the first interviewer gave a substitute after self-guessing. Although he was considerate, he ignored the needs of the other party. He couldn’t accurately find the pain points of the customer, and he couldn’t make a deal.

The second interviewer cared too much about the boundaries between men and women, which would inevitably cause dissatisfaction among female customers during the sales process, thus losing these customers.

The female interviewer directly saw the limitations of the other two from the answer, so she did not pass.

Whether it is in an interview or at work, we must clarify the real needs of the other party and look at the problem comprehensively.

On the basis of not deviating from the demand, add more possibilities to achieve the purpose of the other party.

No matter what interview questions you encounter in the interview, it is a test for us personally.

A senior HR friend said that in fact, the open questions they asked were more about testing each other:

First, the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.

In the workplace, only by being a person who complies with the needs of the environment can we achieve better development.

A person who is adaptable, like a loach, adapts to the changing environment with a soft body, instead of copying it mechanically; at the same time, in the face of new changes, he will be more creative and achieve goals with more possibilities.

Second, empathy thinking ability.

Empathy is a consideration of emotional intelligence.

A person who can think from the perspective of others in the workplace will inevitably reduce many unnecessary disputes in various teamwork; at the same time, he also has a greater advantage in interpersonal communication in the workplace.

Third, the ability to organize and coordinate.

The job is to turn complex points into regular points and connect them into lines.

People with strong organizational and coordination skills can more easily sort out their work ideas, find appropriate methods to complete work tasks in a more orderly manner, and make work more efficient.

Fourth, implement the landing ability.

Execution is an important factor that determines the success or failure of an enterprise, and it is the key to the core competitiveness of an enterprise.

The information age is changing rapidly, and those who cannot keep up with the pace will be eliminated. By receiving information and responding quickly, the strategy can see the results more quickly, and the wrong path can be corrected in time, so that the enterprise can grow faster.

If you have reached the final stage of the interview, it means that your job requirements and skills basically match the company’s expectations.

At this time, HR focuses on your ability to deal with people and solve problems.

Enterprises need employees who have both emotional intelligence and ability.

If employees don’t get along well, it will definitely affect the work.

These are the basic “emotional intelligence” requirements for employees.

After passing the basic emotional intelligence, let’s see if you have the ability to solve problems.

If all are achieved, the offer will naturally come to you.

When we face nonsensical questions, we must figure out the needs behind the question, give a feasible answer after careful consideration.

Even if the answer may not be the best, as long as you show your attitude and emotional intelligence, I believe the result will be predictable.

If it were you, how would you answer this question? What weird interview questions have you come across? Welcome to chat in the comment area~
