Life disrupted by “fragmentation”

Now, I gradually realized that my initial feeling was not completely correct.

At first, I thought that intelligence could make life more and more convenient. But now, I feel that intelligence has fragmented our time and our lives have also become fragmented.

The most intuitive feeling is that the efficiency of life and work has become lower. To give a simple example: in the past, you only need to use your finger to press the punch card on the punch card machine, but nowadays, you need to open a special APP. Undoubtedly, using a personal mobile phone to check in is indeed more hygienic, but the strange thing is that there are more and more functions of this special check-in APP recently, but most of the functions are very tasteless.

What’s more frightening is that this APP has even added social functions, which makes me feel that this software is even more and more out of place, and more and more bloated APP occupy a lot of mobile phone capacity. What’s even more annoying is that this APP is frequently updated in the background. Every time you click on the software to check in, it takes a long time to respond because of too many functions, and it takes a lot of time to find an application function after logging in. The so-called diversification of functions simply makes this APP fragmented, and our time is also fragmented.

I originally thought that technological advancement could bring a leap in the quality of our lives, but this is not entirely true. There are many more examples like this. For example, it’s a good thing that smartphones allow people to go to the bathroom to scan news and Moments. Later, I discovered that because of their mobile phones, many people who used to take only ten minutes to go to the bathroom now spend half of them. Hour.

Because of the attraction of fragmented information, most people stare at their mobile phones all day long. Once, two friends and I went to a small restaurant to have a meal. After entering the restaurant, the two friends took out their phones and sat quietly, staring at the phone screens intently, just like diners at a table. After serving, I swiped my phone while eating, ate each meal, said goodbye after the meal, and then went to each other, just like a stranger meeting by the water. This makes me feel quite disappointed. What’s the point of having a party like this? It’s better to deal with a meal at home.

Intelligent devices seem to narrow the distance between people, but people’s emotions are also fragmented with time. Twenty years ago, mobile phones were not popular. People rely on letters and phone calls to keep in touch. They may meet several times a year, but every time old friends meet, there is always enough enthusiasm. But nowadays, smart phones let people even There is no good mood and patience face to face.

However, many friends around me have a good impression of “fragmentation”. Taking the use of fragmented time as an example, they can pick up their mobile phones to contact and learn new knowledge points and learn about the latest developments in the world at this moment. What a wonderful thing this is!

Therefore, I also try to accept the fragmentation in the era of big data and use my fragmented time to do something. For example, I tried to read while waiting for the bus or taking the bus, but when I read it, I found that I read a short paragraph today and another short paragraph tomorrow. In this way, the content of intermittent fragmented reading cannot form a whole at all, let alone. system. There are also a lot of influences and disturbances in the reading process. You may forget the content you just read.

“Learning without thinking is nothing, thinking without learning is dying”, it is undeniable that fragmented reading does make the cost of reading lower, but it also fragments knowledge and memory, which makes me feel like I am no longer like before. That way there is enough room to think. Without the process of thinking, one cannot understand the meaning of reading, and even begins to become confused.

Of course, fragmented reading is not completely useless. It can use people’s fragmented time. If we have established our own knowledge system, fragmented reading can be used as an extension and supplement of knowledge. But without its own knowledge system, fragmented reading seems to be only a pastime, not to mention the era of information explosion, the authenticity and scientificity of Internet content cannot be guaranteed.

To make matters worse, many software like to use big data to calculate personal preferences or preferences, and continuously and continuously push similar news or topics for users. Many times, clearly doing the work at hand, but being disturbed by the information pushed by the pop-up window, the attention is constantly being distracted by these fragmented and meaningless content. If things go on like this, it will become more and more difficult to concentrate. If one is not careful, time may be sucked away.

Smart devices cut time into pieces, preventing people from calming down and focusing on one thing. Fragmented information, fragmented time… Our time is occupied by various fragments, and even our lives have become fragmented.

I suddenly missed my childhood life very much. In that era, even with a few marbles, I could play happily all day. By now, I was holding the comic strip I dreamt of as a child, but I didn’t have the patience to finish reading two pages. I just found out: How happy it is to be able to concentrate on one thing.

I can’t let the fragmentation disrupt my life. I just want to concentrate on reading a book, cook a dinner with my heart, or watch a movie quietly without fast forward…

So, I turned on the phone and uninstalled many apps that were of little use. Just keep a few essential apps, right?
