Thioglucosides, also called glucosinolates, or glucosinolates for short, are a class of secondary metabolites of thioglycosides synthesized from amino acids and are commonly found in broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables.
In some animal and in vitro cell experiments, these sulfur-containing substances have been found to inhibit the growth of bacteria and cancer cells.
