Many effective managers often keep such a time record and review it regularly every month. At the very least, effective managers tend to record for three or four weeks in a row, record every day, and record two or three periods in a year. With time-consuming sample records, they can review it themselves. After half a year, they will find that their time is very messy, wasted on all sorts of unnecessary little things, and after practice, they will make progress in the use of time. But management time must be consistent to avoid returning to a wasteful state. (Peter Drew’s “Effective Manager” Chapter 2 takes control of his time)
Recently, more and more people around me have talked about anxiety about time, such as procrastination. Of course, some students told me that I have no procrastination. I have delayed cancer, which sounds almost desperate.
To be effective, the first thing we need to do is to manage our time. In Drucker’s dictionary, time is the most special “resource.” The reason why he said that he is special is that compared to capital or human resources, only time is the resource that we can’t rent, borrow, and can’t buy, and can’t get it by other means. It is impossible for us to become masters of time, because we can’t control time at all. Of course, we are even less willing to be slaves of time, so the most suitable role is actually: friends. Accompanied by each other, never give up.
How to be friends with time? First we need to know where our time is going, so that we can understand how our relationship with time is, so the first step in mastering time is: record
Recording time is like having a physical examination of your time, so that you know what problems you have in time management, and only after such a physical examination, the method of treatment time will stand out. Here we recommend two apps for recording time: ATIMELOGGER or time recorder, which is easy to operate and can generate time reports online. You can use this software to easily enter the time check process.
Second step: diagnosis
Recording time is best maintained for one to two weeks, once every six months. This is like completing a medical examination project in a hospital. However, when the medical examination is not enough, it is necessary to interpret the doctor to find a place that needs adjustment and attention. To do this, you can ask yourself the following questions while reading the “Time Checklist”: What do you have to do at all, and it is a waste of time? Which activities can be attended by others without affecting the effect? What waste is a lack of system or vision and waste of time? What is the waste of time caused by too many people? Is our meeting a waste of time? Whether our communication costs are too high… We will discuss them in the next few days.
The third step, change
After doing our own time recording and analysis, we will find our own time usage model, and we will also understand the secret of time. The next thing to do is change. How much time is free to spend? How much time can I spend on major events that contribute? What is the prescription for my “disease” (tomato clock, three frogs, work list, efficiency manual…) What you have to do is not to receive the whole meal, but to choose the best one for you based on the results of the time experience. Tools to enhance your time use.
